Review Process
- After submission, your request is sent to the South Central Zone Sanctions Coordinator for review.
- They may request additional details if needed. Their email is: stsanctions@usms.org
- Once all requirements are met, they’ll approve your event.
Confirmation
- Approved events are automatically added to the USMS Calendar of Events.
- Event director will receive a confirmation email.

Pool Event Requests
- Please submit your sanction request at least two months before your event date.
- We commit to reviewing your request within one week of submission.
Open Water Event Requests
- Please submit your sanction request and all supporting documents at least six months before your event date.
- We commit to reviewing your request within one week of submission.

What does it mean to sanction an event? Sanctioning an event through U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) ensures that:
USMS rules apply and are followed
All participants are covered by USMS insurance
Performances can count toward USMS records and Top 10 rankings
Sanctioned events often attract more swimmers because they offer a well-organized, officially recognized experience.
To get started, submit an online sanction request. The South Central Zone Sanctions Coordinator will review your application and guide you through the process. Contact them at stsanctions@usms.org if you have any questions.
In addition to the sanctions coordinator for our zone, your LMSC has plenty of resources to help you run a successful meet, including:

Your facility’s aquatics manager
Fellow coaches and swimmers
We provide event hosts with financial support for sanctioned events

STLMSC is committed to promoting events that benefit our members:
Each year, the STLMSC Board allocates a budget for event host support.
Hosts who meet the criteria may be eligible for financial assistance.
